Education & Science

Dear trusting public, earlier this month, (around the 5th) of august, i came inside my house to be given the phone by my daughter, who explained she thought the call was for me, however, she couldn't understand the middle eastern dialect coming from the woman on the other end. The best I could understand, I was being offered a 0% master card (unsecured).

They just needed to ask me a couple of questions. Frustrated, and in a hurry to get it over I supplied them with the information they needed, all the while being assured I would be charged absolutely nothing until my "package" arrived, which would then supply answers to all my questions.

I told them I was a disabled American Veteran, and had just undergone a surgical procedure, and was heavilly medicated, and that now was not really a good time for this. Again I was reassured there would be no charge until after my "package"arrived.in a hurry to get off the phone, and really needing to lie down, I agreed. I had completely forgotten the matter until my wife told me that our bank had been charged a $29.95 credit card shipping fee on the 8th.

By this time I was clear headed, so I called the number of the charging party, which turned out to be Capital First. I tried telling them I could barely even remember previous contact with them, and that the last thing I would ever want woukd be another mastercard. I already have one with Chase, and a Dicover card from my bank. AGAIN! I was told to wait until my "package" arrived, and was then promptly hung up on!

I went immediately to the internet, and found this site. My package came, but, as of yet it remains unopened. I called my bank, and put a stop payment on any debits from Capital First, but I was told that if they used one of their other AKA'S it would still go through. So, I had them stop payment on any debits for $99.95, $59.95 or any ammount with Capital First or CFB attached to it. The sad part is, even all this may not stop them, aside from causing them to comit a felony by changing the ammounts of the debits, which even under their devious wording would be an unauthorized debit, thereby constituting theft on their part.

Also, it takes 3 to 5 days for a stop payment to go in effect, so it's a race against the clock as well. If none of this works I am at a loss. Because my VA check is Direct Deposit, and due to my disabilities, many of my bills are paid by debit, I can't just close my account in the middle of the month, and re-open another account.

I would think our banks would be of more help, or the Better Business Buero, or the FBI, or Attorney Generals office. Surely someone can stop this ALI BABI credit card company! If anyone who reads this can offer any advice, I, and many like me would appreciate it... Sincerely, Frustrated in the south; living proof that age does not always acquire wisdom.
