Hofstra University and Cheryl Betz Director or Residential Life Will not give me a dorm room for senior year false promises

I happened to miss the deadlines day for room selection last April. No one, even in the Residential Life office seem to know where it was.

I went down the day after and asked to get a room for the Fall 2002. All the students had already picked out rooms and there were still alot open at the time then.

They office said that they could not give me a room then because I had to wait for the freshman to get the rooms over the summer and then they will give me one. I am a senior by the way.

Why could they not give me a room then. They said they had to "organize" they freshman into units. But if I were to go to the process a day earlier they would of given me a room. Then they (Cheryl Betz) said that I would have a room for the Fall after they give them to the freshman. I said what if you overbook like this past year? They said that I will have a room.

Well I called up at least once a week over the summer and they kept saying next week, next week. I hired an attorney to get involved and they refused to answer him. They told him that I will have a room.

Well, a few days ago he called them again and they said they gave out all dorm rooms to the freshman and are overbooked.

He threatened to sue and they said go ahead sue me it will take years. We are a Private University, we can do what we want.

They never gave me ample time to even search for a place to live in the school. I am living with my parents in New Jersey for the summer.

I cannot commute 3 hours to classes each day in Long Island from South Jersey. I guess I am a senior and I have one year of money left and the freshman have 4 more left.

I told them of the chances earlier and they said not to worry. They told me to get an apartment and tough. They also said they do not care that they are ruining my education. Cherly Betz said " Not my problem."
