University of Phoenix is a RIPOFF They ruined my A credit!

I attended UOP for several months and came close to my graduation date. I recieved finacial aide which covered all of my tuituion. I recieved a finacial aide award letter stating that i would recieve $2345 which was what was left after my tuituion was paid. I was happy because i could use the money to help me out since i was working part time so i could go to school.

I went to the finacial aide office to varify that this was actually the amount that was going to be refunded to me. I was told that this was the amount and i would recieve a check in the mail. I recieved a check in the mail a few weeks later, and of course cashed it and used it to pay bills.

A few weeks later I recieved a call from UOP letting me know that i was over paid that entire amount and there was a shortage in finacial aide and the reward amount had been reduced. A few days later I recieved a letter requesting the entire amount and threatening to suspend me from classes until the amount was paid. I tried to work out a payment plan or a resonable alternative and was turned down. Shortly after I was suspended from classes which resulted in me being responsible for the amount of the classs since my finacial aide was revoked because i was not enrolled.

After battling with this for weeks, contacting FAFSA I discovered that the error was on the part of UOP and it would be their loss. After discussing this with their corporate office they were unwilling to accept responsibilty for the situation and finally sent this to a collection agency and reported this as a negative on my credit report.

I was warned by several students to be careful of this type of situation. I regret tranfering my education to this School.
