Ashworth College
PCDI - Professional Career Development Institute Credits Non-Transferrable to other Colleges Universities ripoff

I've been a student at Ashworth College for two years. Before I enrolled I performed extensive research on their accreditation process and qualifications through outside accrediting agencies, and was even assured by Ashwworth/PCDI themselves, that they were, indeed FULLY accredited; though this has since turned out not to be true. Where I dropped the ball was not in determining whether their credits were transferrable to other institutions upon graduation.

Regardless, I am nearing the half-way point in my studies, and because Ashworth doesn't offer a Bachelor's degree program in Psychology, I'm having to transfer my credits to another institution in order to continue. As it turns out however, none of the traditional campus colleges nor even the majority of on-line colleges I've thusfar contacted will even look at credits from Ashworth.

All have assured me that they are virtually worthless and that I will need to re-take with them, everything I've already taken at Ashworth. According to Ashworth College there are some colleges around the country which accept their credits, but I have yet to find one which colleges actually accept them. I called last week to request placement assistance from Ashworth, and was told I would be contacted the next day; I've yet to hear back from them.

The bottom line is: Ashworth College, a.K.A. PCDI/Professional Career Development Institute is NOT regionally accredited, nor does it carry the SACS accreditation, which is required for acceptance of credit transfers at major and even less well-known institutions around the country. I've had to learn this the hard way.

Additionally, I have had numerous problems attempting to contact ANYONE for any reason. Attempting to contact an instructor is laughable. Trying to get through the 'guard-dogs' at the 'gate' when dialing their main number is ludicrous. One is generally on hold for an hour or more. Most of the call-center operators seem to have very limited knowledge of any question that's asked of them, and in fact stonewall as often as possible, and usually refuse to transfer the call to an actual qualified representative of the school. I've come to the conclusion, however, that the term 'qualified' is not only relative, but a misnomer!).

While there seem to be many well-meaning individuals here who either work for or are students of Ashworth College, the fact is that there are many who are having problems with the college.

Further, it would seem to me that, if Ashworth's credits are NOT acceptable elsewhere, what's the point of attending this college at all?
