Ripoff Got the ol' bait and switch

After seeing commercials from ITT Tech I was convinced. I wanted to go. I soon went to the ITT Tech on Gessner and talked to Mr. Jackson. I made it very clear that I would not be able to get any kind of loan because I was going through a divorce. I asked him if the money I was getting from the Department of Verteran Affairs will be enough to cover everything and he said "Yeah of course it would! No problem!" So I was dumb enough to believe him.

After taking 3 classes I had passed, it was time to pay. I went to the counceler and found out that the bill was actually way more than what the VA was giving me. She said that I would have to get a loan to pay for the classes so I tried and did not get approved. Since I don't have much family I could not get a cosigner for my loan either. I told her what Mr. Jackson had said and she told me that it wasn't her fault that I didn't read what I signed.

I'll admit that I signed paperwork that I should have read completely. I am not saying it is completely their fault but it would have been nice to recieve some kind of honesty and empathy from ITT Tech. Of course the money I owed was sent to a collection agency based out of Cincinnatti, OH. I need to pay $2500 soon or they said "they will take it to the next level" and have legal actions taken against me and have the money I owe taken out of my paycheck. They said they can only do a payment plan of about $462 a month and nothing less.

I need help on what to do. Can the collection agency actually take legal steps to take it out of my paycheck? Someone help.
