General Contractor, hires handyman carpenter to do local jobs ripoff

ON 11/28 I was employed by John Ottman, owner of Ottman Home Services. He told me he would be paying me the same as I was getting paid before I was working for him which was $11/hr. I asked him about a contract and he said he would draw one up.

I worked for him from 11/28 to 12/08 working 78 hours. My work was as a trainer, creating a training manual, and MS Excel docs. Then I would submit them to him and he would preview them and we would make revisions. I also called all around the U.S. For him when he needed a contractor/handyman to do a job locally in a particular location. I would find a handyman; contact the handyman asking if he would be interested in the job. Then if he was, I would forward the handyman's info to John Ottman who would then call and interview the handyman and possibly hire him.

I have asked repeatedly about my salary, how I was too being paid and when he would pay me. He just ignored any of my questions. He never would address the issue or give me an affirmative answer.

On Dec 11 I told him that I wouldn't do any more work until I was paid the salary due me. He again tried to change the subject and then turn it around on me. I kept trying to get him to send my pay and he kept referring to a document, see attached, he had previously sent to me.

In the document it would say how he would pay if I was working in the Philippines or India. The document made no reference to if I was working in the United States. I mentioned that to him and again he said that is how they pay. The denomination in the document would say the payment would be in Philippine peso, or Indian Denar. Nothing to do with American Dollars. Previously he sent me monies to get a computer.

I never asked or solicited him for this. It was $200. It is in my account and never was touched. He told me he wanted the $200 back but because of his attitude and they way of being elusive I knew if I sent it back him would disappear after receiving it.

John Ottman has a history of not paying people. I have been in contact with one of who is in the Philippines and worked for him. Attached is a copy of their complaint and Ottman's rebuttals. There are also four (4) others in the Philippines. I'm trying to get their information and will also send it as soon as I receive it. During our conversations on Yahoo Messenger, John Ottman said he would send someone to my house. I told him no. He asked if would be home. I told him no. He asked if my roommate would be home. I told him no. He then flashed my address on the screen. I took this as a threat and contacted the Kent, WA police in regards to this.
