Lottery scam, report release fee of 20, sworn to secrecy, absolutely confidential

My Beloved Grandmother has recieved her 3rd lottery scam letter, this one being the most official looking and every thing spelt correctly. (Last 2 from Spanish Lottery). This European Bureau of Prize Draw Registry swears her to secrecy and states that this needs to be kept absolutely confidential. She has apparently won? 2,249, 366 and 3 others have already collected their winnings, each over the sum of? 3,113, 579,68. All she needs to do is send? 20.00 to United Kingdom Prize Draw Registry, Suite 3,4 Old Down, Emborough, BA3 4FG, UNITED KINGDOM.

? 20.00 does not seem alot of money but as she is a retired pensioner, she cannot, like many others in her position afford to send any amount to not recieve any thing for her goodwill gestures.

Why pray on the elderly, especially with the promise of a better life and more money than she would know what to do with. Luckily she has a grand-daughter she can rely on to check things out. Many others may not be so lucky and be alone, actually following instructions on the FORM W-915, sending money on a promise of recieving more.

I have registered her for a Mailing Preference Service in the hope that she will not recieve unwanted mail in the future. However I do feel everyone should be made more aware of this situation, especially the elderly and vunerable.

Maybe all governments should be sending a newsletter (perhaps with pension updates etc) to these type of people warning them of the dangers of lottery scams, and telling people not to send money or bank details to any of them, afterall if you have genuinely won a sum of money, you should never have to pay a release fee and a cheque (check) will be sent out in due course.

I hope my report has helped at least one person to not fall into the trap of Lottery Scams.
