I purchased Vonage starter kit with $50 rebate from Staples in April (yes, a year go now!). I sent my rebate and received email notification that rebate was sent for final processing on 5/31/05. The link to the web site allows me to view my rebate status. So what. It sits with that status for 10.5 months now. The only way to inquire on this rebate is via email and no one ever replies.

I tried to talk to Staples and Vonage. No luck. Apparently this rebate is waiting for confirmation that I activated and kept the service for at least 3 months but there is no way for me to do anything. Staples people refused to get involved telling me to call Vonage. Vonage is saying it is Staples problem.

Ironically I love Vonage service. It works great and I have it now for a year. I have no plans to change my phone service. But I am aggravated by the fact that they lured me to buy their equipment with false promise of the rebate.

I consider this unethical business practice. I search web for other reports of Vonage rebate problems. I see many, many complaints. How is it possible that they can get away with it?
