While looking for an item on the net, a 'pop-up'appeared saying they could get any item wholesale, and if I acted in the next 24 hours, I could recieve a '"trial membership" for only one dollar, I fell into their trap.
After I hit the 'accept offer' button, I was lead to a registration page. I filled out that page, with my financial information, and preesed the "authorize" button for what I believed was a $1.00 deduction.
I did not have access to a computer for the next week, and when I opened my e-mail account, there were two letter forthis company. The earlier addressed mail confirmed my $1.00 trial subscription acceptance. A letter dated the next day stated that they had taken $70.00 additional out of my account, per the terms of the previos letter. Upon review of the previous days' letter, I noticed an asterick. I foolowed this, abd what was said in 'small print' was that if I did not cancel my trial subscription within 1 day, they would "for my convienience" and without any other authority, sign me in as a 'regular' subsciber at $70.00/month.
There was no indication of this on the registeation I filled out, only on the first letter, that I did not access for one week. I not not have any legal or moral responsibility to answer mail on a daily basis, and I believe that this company practices fraudulent andeceptive behavior based on taking 'no action' on an offer that cannot be validated as having been decieved.
I think that many people have fallen or been ensnared in this trap. I got in touch with the company, explained I did not open the letter in a timely fashion, and wanted not to be a regular member, and have the 'member fee' returned. This is only three days after they, unknown to me, withdrawn the monet. They replied that all the information I neede to know was on the first letter, and they would continue my registration with no return of money.

Since when does 'non-response' to an unknown document, become an "approval' for a companies actions?
