Education & Science

On 11-25 my wife was called by a man with an Indian accent and an american name. He told her that we were to receive a $5000 grant from the government. He collected her banking information (routing and account numbers) so that he could direct deposit the grant to our account.
My wife told me about this and we closed that account that day, alerting the bank as to what had happened. Less than 3 working days later an electronic check arrived for $49.95 to that account. The following day we received a package in the mail from AAB containing a letter describing the $299.95 price.

For our $350 we could get a health care plan (you can't find out the benefits until they send you your package, in 3-4 weeks) and a government grant information guide. You have 7 days to cancel (right).

If she hadn't told me about this right away, we would be in for who knows how much trouble. They made no mention of charging her for anything. They falsly told her that she was to get $5000. If this company isn't already in serious legal trouble, they should be.
