Harrassing, Ignorant, Unprofessional ripoff

I had a vehicle that was extremely unreliable. My husband and I need two vehicles as most Americans do. We had horrible credit and replied to an add on T.V. For one of those bad credit, no credit places. What a mistake! We were very happy to drive off the lot in a luxury SUV.

This was in January. We made timely payments for the first 1 1/2 years.in 2004 I lost my job. I called all my creditors to ask them to work with me. Triad was one that would not budge.

They charge you $5.00 a day in late fees. We have changed our phone number 3 times in a year. The calls started at 8:30am and continued until 9:30pm at least 4-6 times a day. Of course the calls started the day after our payment was due. My husband works for the United States Government all of their phone lines are secured.

When we would not update them on his work number the rep would become so rude and start threatening that if we did not give it to them they would not help us in the future if we run into bigger financial problems. The same with me when I started working again I would not give them my new work number. I work in collections. I have been doing this line of work for 10 years. When the reps would throw threats I would tell them that is not what the Fair Debt Collection Act states. I have left several of them speechless.

Right now our late fees are $290.01. Our payment was due November 6. I mailed a check on November 11. Now they have our cell phone number. I told them its in the mail. I got the rude comments of your payment is due on the due date you have no grace period. I said I am not paying $8.00 to make a phone payment. They used to only charge $5.00 for a phone payment. Then the rep said what if your check gets lost in the mail you are accumulating even more late fees than you already have. I said ok its a check I can stop payment on it and send another one.

OHH my she did not like that! She went off! I had to say a few words to her that you would not let children hear. She had me so infuriated I had to hang up on her. If my credit was any better I would get rid of these people. They also have a problem with reading the information that is put in front of them. I live in California, Maryland. They say you live in the state of California. How stupid.
