It was a close call for ripoff, but thanks to this site, no money lost

My wife was telephonically contacted about a credit card. They said they were a credit rebuilding company and all that other BS. They said they themselves were not a credit card company but just a rebuilding company and would get the card through another company.

The deal was a credit card with a $5,000 limit, $150 in coupons for groceries, and a certificate for a free computer and cell phone. There was no minimum monthly payment and the card could be used anywhere. The only cost was $299 and they would not send anything until that was paid.

We gave them our bank account number and routing number over the phone. But funny thing is, that was the only information they needed besides the basics. No questions or investigating about credit history or anything like that.

Well, my wife called her sister about it and my sister in law told her that her mother in law had been taken by something similar for $200. My wife got nervous and called the bank to freeze our account.

The bank said we had 2 choices - either change accounts or put a hold on just that transaction for EXACTLY $299. If it was one cent over they couldn't stop it.

My wife called Solow Solutions back and could not get a hold of them for the rest of the day. The recording played the same song over and over and over again until it hung up. Finally the next morning she got through and started grilling the customer service rep about the company.

They gave her the same address and phone number as the other postings on this site. But they also said they were just the call center and didn't or couldn't give out any more information other than that. So I looked it up on the web and thankfully found this site. So screw them now.

We called our bank and explained the situation and that I had found Solow Solutions on this ripoff site. We are going to change accounts.

But the good thing about it is that when the bank receives a transfer like that, the bank computer (at least our bank) or whatever does not keep a record of the account number or routing number to where the amount that has been drawn out goes to. But if the bank is alerted to fraud before the transaction happens, the computer will pull all the information concerning that transaction and where is is going to.

My wife called up the company again and talked to a Michael Miller and told him that we were not going to go through with it and the account would be frozen. So the ball is in Solow Solutions' side of the court. If they try and still draw the money out, the computer will record all their information so to those who this scam has happened to, whether reported here or not, there might be a way to get your money back.

The information will be the account number, routing number, and bank information of where the money was supposed to go to.

Hopefully this saves someone some money and might give a way to retrieve money already lost.
