Citicorp Diners Club & Collectors Guild
Ripoff Sold fraudulent Salvador Dali lithographs

Education & Science

Back in 1987 Citicorp/Diners Club, in conjunction with The Collectors Guild issued four 'Limited Edition' lithographs from Dali's 'Alice in Wonderland' suite, which included 12 total images.

Citicorp/Diners Club stated that the 8 additional lithos would be offered some time in the future. American Express also offered the same lithos at this time.

Subsequent to the offering, the Federal Trade Commission opened an investigation of Collectors Guild for selling fraudulent and unauthorized artwork from numerous artists including Chagall, Miro, and Dali, among others.

In 1991, the FTC found Collectors Guild guilty and a settlement (undisclosed) was reached which prohibitted them from further sales.

At that time, American Express DID THE RIGHT THING, and issued their purchasers refunds, which totaled approximately $2.5 million dollars.

Citicorp/Diners Club, however, DID NOTHING. As of this date they have maintained complete silence, even though the fact that they never offered the last 8 lithos of the Alice series indicates that they had full knowledge of the fraud perpetrated by Collectors Guild, and by extension, Diners Club.

It is time to file a class action lawsuit against these people.

Anyone who originally purchased these lithos or has bought them from re-sellers is urged to post your complaint here so that you can have your day in court.

These lithos are worth nothing more than the frames that hold them... Which is considerably less than the $975 original purchase price, and FAR LESS than the appreciated value they should have attained since Dali's death.

These lithos include "Mad Tea Party", "The Dreams of Alice", "Pig and Pepper", and "The Queen's Party", in various numbered editions. The frames are gilded with gold leaf and measure 26" x 35.5". Image size is 15.5" x 23.25". Each will be said to include a 'Certificate of Authenticity' from Collectors Guild or may have one affixed to the back.

We are looking for other victims of this fraud to participate in a class action lawsuit, so if you or anyone you know may have purchased any of these items, POST IT HERE!!!
