I tried to cancel my enrollment in less than thirty days, and what I got was a thirty-one day run around. I called everyone, but God to cancel. Everyone I talked to told me I had to talk to someone else. When I finally contacted the right person which was my counslor he was on vacation. How convienent, for Phoenix anyway. When I finally offically canceled, I was told I owed a bill for 450.00 dollars. I couldn't understand why, my first semester should have been completely covered by Fasfa. After all they kept 1,037.00 dollars from the goverment, I should know, I had to claim it on my taxes as income. I did not recieve a draw, which is why I canceled in the first place. I was supposed to recieve money for books, and other exspenses. I also should not have started classes before I was approved for my school loans, yet there I was in class a month and a half before the loans were approved. This was all unknown to me. What if I had not gotten approved, I would have had to pay roughly 1,500.00 out of pocket. To add insult to injury I found out the degree would have been useless to my career as a police officer. I'm glad I got out when I did, however I do not feel I am responsible for any amount of money. I tried to cancel I didn't complete more than two weeks of class, and they kept the money from Fasfa. Since I recieved no money from a draw, then I don't owe them any money either. Also I wanted to suceed on my own merits, not have to be part of a team that lives in different states, countries, time zones, ect. It made tasks near impossible to complete seeing as we were all on different schedules. All these things combined made failure the only option. Last, but not least there were no entrance exams. You were not at all prepared for the level of education needed to pass the major courses such as math, english, and science. For a person such as myself who has not had those courses since high school it is not as simple as they made it sound. All in all they set you up to fail rather than suceed. My dates of attendance are as follows: 08-27-04 to 09-15-04.1,490.00 is what they are trying to charge me. Tell me I'm not getting ripped off.
