Invention Channel
Pop-up ripoff

Education & Science

I too, was just taken in by this company. I followed a link from Epinions and made a purchased of their Cleensweep broom, approximately $10 plus whatever shipping they wanted to charge.

I state it this way because I have no record of what they charged, no e-mail confirmation and the webscreen did not stay after I made the purchase.instead, a pop-up screen appeared ("live chat") and informed me I would be receiving, amongst other things, some service or publication for which my credit card would be charged $9.95 a month unless I called the number (that would be sent to me) to cancel!

I immediately tried to cancel the entire order but the pop-up and the original receipt screen disappeared. I then phoned the company to try and cancel. "We're sorry: You must phone back in 48 hours after the order has appeared in our system."

I also tried to cancel via e-mail where they state the order must be cancelled prior to its going through the system and I must provide the order number. Well, of course they didn't give me an order number!

So, no way to cancel and supposedly my credit card will be charged $9.95 indefinitely for something I did not order.
