Ripoff dishonest debt collection practices

The doctor contends that I owe for a medical bill on my daughter. However, my ex-wife owes this money. Our divorce states that I am responsible for keeping health insurance on my daughter. My ex is responsible for all other medical debts. I informed the agency of this and provided them with a copy of the papers showing that I am ony responsible for the health insurance, not any other debt. They insist that I am responsible. I have never signed any agreement with the physicians office stating that I will be financially responsible for this debt, all papers have been signed by my ex-wife. She doesn't have any money, however, so they are coming after me.

Now that I am trying to secure a mortgage for a new home they are refusing to remove this debt from my credit report even though they have no legal right to collect this money from me.

I will have to pay these people for a debt I don't owe just to get my mortgage. They know that I will pay to clear the debt, so they aren't interested in doing the right thing, just in getting their money.
