Carolina Carports
Does not stand behind their products as they claim! Buyer beware!

Several years ago we purchased a carport from a Carolina Carport dealer in Hermitage, PA. Originally we were very pleased with our purchase. As part of our purchase, we were told (and it said in the paperwork) that if we ever need to move the carport, it would be a $50 charge to disassemble and then a by mile charge to move. I don't remember what the cost we were quoted to re-assemble it. About 6 months after we purchased the carport, the dealer we purchased it from in Hermitage vanished (apparently a common occurance).

Now several years later, we need the carport moved. We attempted to disassemble the carport ourselves and most of the bolts have rusted and we can't unbolt the unit. The other Carolina Carport dealers in our area told me I just need to contact Carolina Carports about moving it and that they should move it for a nominal charge.

So I called them about it. At first they were very friendly. Once they found out what I wanted, the person I spoke to wanted to know if they were the manufacturer. I told her yes, but I no longer have the paperwork on the carport. At that point the attitude completely changed and I was told I would have to PROVE that it was one of their carports before they would move it.

I told her, I checked for any manufactured marks and didn't find any but if she could tell me where to look I would verify they are the manufacturer. At that point I found out that there are NO manufacturer marks. So I asked her how am I supposed to prove it's one of theirs and was told that there is no way to do that by the unit and I'm out of luck!

When I purchased the carport, I was told if I ever needed it moved I did not need the paperwork as they kept records so I just needed to contact them. Now they tell me I need the paperwork or to contact the dealer (the one who vanished...)

I asked her if they had a list of people who moved carports even it it wasn't for them as I don't mind paying to have it moved but I haven't been able to find anyone willing to. She told me "NO" they only move theirs and they don't maintain a list of anyone who moves them if it is not one of theirs. I reminded her that it is one of theirs and basically got told they won't help me.

So now I have a carport I paid over $1200 for on property I don't own, that I can't get anyone to move! Will not EVER be buying from Carolina Carports again and definitely do NOT recommend them as they do NOT stand behind their product as promised.
