Oakwood Homes
Clayton Homes sinking uneven floors, work done under home not up to code, home made out of cheap materials

Construction & Repair

Do not purchase a modular, home bought in within first 6 mos, floor in kitchen had a huge hump, floors also in kitchen had a dip or sagging, in the laundry room, the floor started sagging, the house started settling to the point the walls were separating from the floors, cracks all around fireplace coming from where the house was not fully supported, sent someone out to supposingly fix the floors, one month later, floors sagging again, out of my own pockets, hired a home inspector he found a wall missing an outlet, some outlets were suppose to be grounded especially if near water source and they were not gfci, floors were squeaking when walking in certain areas. Hired a construction engineer to come out and give me some answers to why my floors were so uneven and sagging and having a big hump in the middle of the floor, engineer went under house only to find that the "professionals" they sent out to fix my floors, had put materials under the home that was not up to code. The floors the engineer measred were way of not close to being level in the master, kitchen, and laindry room. You could look in the kitchen and it looked liked one side of home was going downward in a slump and there was not enough support (piers) under this big home. One row of piers were not enogh support. A manager and the people from the Henderson site where I purchased the home came to check it out and even to their surprise, they saw the hump and sagging. I was told that the ones who put the illegal materials under the home was going to be fired, that was a lie, because they sent him back out not to fix the floors, but put in a gcfi outlet and he left here forgot to put the outlet plate on and wires hanging out. Anyway they sent out some other guys to take down the illegal stuff and replace the wood with iron. Floors still uneven house need to be jacked up and then the iron support afterwards. Home made with cheap materials from the cabinets, paint chipping off, the home is not worth what I am paying, very cheaply built. Do not purchase modular unless it is off of the lot. Oakwood/Clayton home builders do not take pride in their work when it came to building my home.
