Gorell Windows Mfg. Has gone in to RECEIVERSHIP and Safe-Lite is buy the assets of Gorell. Safe-Lite is not taking on any home owner warranties for DIY people. But Safe-Lite IS taking on the warrenties of DEALERS' customers that stay with Safe-lite during this transition.

In this case, this doesn't apply to me. Purchased windows in 2003 from a dealer that was sold and the new owners/dealers did not take on any warranties. Therefor, my warrant has been voided. So, now I have to pay full price to replace any sash that goes bad since Safe-Lite is not taking on warranties for home owners.

So, how does Soft-lite policy relate to you the consumer.infect, Soft-lite warranty is only as good as the dealer you purchased it from. For example, if you buy windows from Soft-lite with 50 year warranty and one sash goes bad after 5 years. You call the original dealer who installed it and you find out they are out of business. Guess what, your warrenty is gone too. Soft-Lite warranty is based on if the original dealer is in business or not. If the orginal dealer is in business then you pay a small fee and have the sash replace. If the original dealer is out of business then your warranty is gone and you have to pay full price for a sash that no longer has a warranty.

I don't know if anything can be done. But I have talked to and verified this information with both companies. I will never buy from Safe-Lite in the future and I hope others who read this will not either. Say what you will, but these are facts and come from first hand information.
I am very disappointed in Safe-lite and there polices.
