I recently worked for Home Furniture LLC which is a one man operation by Keith Byrd. The few positive feedbacks were posted by his family, and friends. I know because he asked me to do it as well. I worked for Keith for two weeks. I asked him when I would be paid, and he kept avoiding the topic. He never filed paperwork for my employment, and found out after two weeks he would pay me in cash to avoid paying taxes. I was not comfortable with that, so I told him I could not work there if that's the way he was going to operate his business. That is the only way Keith wanted to do it so I left. I contacted him several times for some sort of compansation for being paid, and he responded with texts cursing at me, and said he wasn't paying me a dime. I saved the texts because I filed a complaint for tax fraud with the board of labor, and the IRS. He lists his name as "Keith Davis" on craigslist, so beware. I saw a few red flags in the beginning when he said I would be running the store while he was in FL. He told me he has screwed over a lot of customers and wanted to change the business name, and advertise it under new management. I was ok with it at first because he said I would have the option to buy the business within a few months. I noticed he was lying to customers about the quality of furniture, prices, and where the furniture was made. 80% of the furniture comes from overseas but he tells all customers it is made in NC. Totally false. He pressures all customers in leaving a deposit on the furniture in hopes they will not return so he can keep the deposits as pure profit. It was after I noticed him lying to customers that I figured he may be stringing me along, and lying to me. And sure enough he was. Keith Byrd is the most ignorant, rude individual I have ever met. He belittled me in my Christian beliefs. His vulgar language extremely offensive. Whether you are pursuing employment with this business, or shopping for furniture... PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! And all sales are final. He will refuse to give any money back, even if the furniture is damaged. This small business is a sinking ship, and Keith knows it. As I stated earlier, it was so bad that I had to file a complaint with the IRS. If you are looking for furniture, there are several other places to shop in the Raleigh area. Please go somewhere else. You will thank me later.
