Ruth Thomas Tried to rent a house he/she didn't own

Thank god for this site. You all saved me $900 I found reportd on this person jut before I sent the money. Mine was the same exact story as everyone else...

She posted an ad on Craigslist in Santa Cruz, CA. She used the email address of thomas. Ruth27@yahoo.com to post this listing. She did not give any details in the body of the post just in the title.

I found the post and emailed her asking for more details regarding the home. She returned an email, using the name Ruth Thomas, with a very long song-n-dance about she was not worried about the money and that the real estate agent that she previously listed it with was attempting to rip off renters by adding to the $1200 she wanted in rent. She just wanted someone in the house to take care of it while she worked off-shore in Alabama.

She gave me the addess of the home and told me to search for the address on google and I would find pictures. I did exactly that and was excited because it was a very nice home wiith everything that I am looking for in a rental. She also told me that I was welcome to walk around the house and look in the windows to see the inside. Then she told me that if it was something that I wanted to rent to let her know and shewould make arrangements for me to get the keys to be able to go inside.

When I emailed her back after walking around the house I received an email from her stating that I would need to request and application. Which I did. When I returned the application I received an email stating that my application was accepted and that I would need to Western Union the deposit to "her sister" in KY and I would need to request the wiring information. I sent that request.

I was hesitant right from the start... It just seemed too good to be true. And for me, when it seems that way, it usually is. Nevertheless, I was very close to sending her the money. When I finally got the information (via text), as her e-mails weren't always coming thru... It listed a Fannie Anders. I wasn't able to find anything on-line about Ruth Thomas, but when I googled Fannie Anders, I found this site.

The address I was sent where I was supposed to Western Union the money was to Fannie Anders at 1575 Normal Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101.

Thank you all for posting about her. You saved me $900.
