Jim Walter Homes
Broken promises, poor customer service and workmanship, incomplete work ripoff to consumers

I originally signed the building contract with Jim Walter Homes in June. I was promised that my house would be completed in December. It is now March and the house is still not done.
The first crew to show up was in August. When I say "crew" only one worker showed up and was more than likely intoxicated. He went to various neighbors asking to use their phones. He made long distant telephone calls which I had to reimburse and also used their water to hook up his hose. He also asked for a beer.
The next crew did not show up until November. A crew of about 7-9 people parked their camper on my property for approximately 2-3 weeks! Some workers would show up during the night (w/o notification of arrival). Others left materials out in the rain which was supposedly replaced.
It was very difficult to contact the office—either I was put on hold or my calls were not returned. I could not enter into the premises because the door was locked and was not allowed a key.
The Tender Agreement was signed by the project manager without my consent. I refused to sign this agreement because not everything was done! Also I have also learned that a Pre-Construction Agreement was to be signed prior to construction which of course was not, nor did I receive a copy. I could write a book. Buyer beware!
