Whirlpool Corporation Not honor the warranty

I purchased a new dishwasher of craigslist (sealed in box with plastic. The dishwasher was picked up and installed.

This dishwasher only lasted 2-3 weeks, and the display went bad. Now the on/off switch and other lights for controls do not work.

When I called Amana, they say that the dishwasher was manufactured prior to the 1 year warranty, and without a receipt they will not honor the warranty. This makes their product have a life of 2-3 weeks.
