Cristina Zavala theft by deception

I met the person on Feb. 8th 2011 for a free cost estimate of installing a counter-top in my kitchen. He gave me his name-card: Arthur Garcia of Complete Home Remodeling, mobile 832-242-4556. As he seems a knowledgeable man, and his bid seemed lower compared to others, I accepted his bid and gave him a deposit of $ 1150 (50% of the total price) for the "special order" of silestone countertop. He said it took only a week to deliver the top when I signed the agreement with him. He did came back to my house to remove the old tile countertop in the kitchen. While in the wait for the silestone countertop, I also paid him $ 1000 to do polishing the hardfloor and a door painting in my house.

The nightmare began after the flooring was finished. The delivery date of the silestone countertop was pushed back to "sometime next week", " by the end of next week", and finally "March 1,10 am", that would be 18 days after signing the agreement. People can not help thinking that although the delivery date is late, but still not too bad if he really delivers. But he did not! On March 10,10:30 am, I anxiously called him why he did not show up yet, he replied that the guy loading the countertop (his partner actually working on the top) might lose the way, he was locating and waiting for the guy. Time was reaching noon, I called him again, that was the first time I found he did not answer my call! Time was fast past 2 pm. After several more calls with messages left, he finally responded that he had found the guy, but the countertop was cracked in the middle, due to a fall when the truck was speeding, he needed to go there to check. What a day for me!

Since that day on, communication with him became very difficult. He would called back only after more than a dozen of repeated calls from me and my wife. He would say the guy had agreed to payback the money for the countertop, and he had reorder the countertop, and it would take 2-3 weeks to deliver. The last call from him was on March 15th.in the last more than one month, he never responded.
It seems more and more obvious that Arthur Garcia is not a honest contractor, but a story-teller.in retrospect, there are flags about him which I regretfully overlooked: his company website www.PREMIERTILEINSTALLATION.com is non-existent, his white cargo van displays no name of his company, he used a different name on my deposit check, Cristina Zavala, whom he said was his wife as bookkeeper for his company. Every homeowner should avoid this person like plague. If he appeared somewhere, please contack me as soon as possible.
