Great Lakes Carpet & Tile
Seller of Defective Carpet in

Construction & Repair

I purchased carpet in early February at Great Lakes. At installation, 4 problems were discovered. A person arrived from the store to look at them and said they would have to replace this carpet. Not to worry. This is now March 19th and I can't get a straight answer to where my new replacement carpet is? About 2 weeks or so after this carpet was installed, lines began to appear, straight lines going down from one wall to the other in different places. It lookes like tracks. My salesman came out and said he never saw such a thing, he will get with Mohawk (the carpet manufacturer), and will get back with me on the 15th of March. That date came and went. As other dates came and went before the 15th of March. I again called the salesman at Great Lakes who started to bluster me, and was laughing. He knows nothing from Mohawk, at least he admitted that much. My huge concern is: If Mohawk replaces this carpet with the same type, will those lines begin to show up weeks later again? I was told this is quite the anomaly. It isn't. Since I read the other report listed on this site, we seem to be having the same problem a year apart.

I have always had to call my salesman at Great Lakes, he never called me with any updates at all. Their motto of: "service is not just a word, but a way of life!", was giggled at by my salesman when I quoted it to him. I can only guess that Great Lakes is really doing nothing to replace this carpet. Outside of going into the store and sitting there ready to discuss this with any potential customers, I'm at a loss as to my next step. I will write Mohawk but I can see the future of that..."Who am I?"."You need to call your salesman". I can hear it now.
