O&J Concrete
Will not respond to complaints regarding problems with concrete driveway installation

An official from our City provided us with a list of City approved concrete contractors that included, O&J Concrete, for installation of our new concrete driveway last spring as O&J is one of the limited number of contractors approved by the City to do City work (this was important as we also had the portion of our driveway between sidewalk and street replaced, which the City insists be done by an approved contractor).

We contracted with O&J Conrete to install the new driveway and also a rear yard patio. This work was completed on 6/18/02, and approx six months ago we noticed two problems with the driveway, a large crack in the driveway concrete near the garage entrance that spans the entire width of the driveway, as well as stains that appear ro be rust in many small spots that appear to be caused by metal in the concrete itself (these spots will not come off, regardless of what type of cleaner we try and use).

My wife and I have been leaving messages for O&J Concrete owner Mr. Joe Salas every week for over five months as well as utilizing Mr. Jesse Vera from the City of Aurora to help us contact him. On one occassion, Mr. Salas did call my wife and said he would visit our home the following day before one in the afternoon to inspect the problem.

My wife stayed home the entire morning and into the afternoon waiting for his visit, which did not come. He has never returned any of our many phone messages left on his voice mail since that time. We are very hesitant to take this aciton of a public complaint but feel this may be the only way to get the corrective action needed to satisfy us. We certainly hope this will cause O&J Concrete to correct the problem we have with their work. Jim and Diane Shaw, Aurora, IL
