Steve Witucki
"Extreme rip off" of a disabled, ill woman. Bixby

Construction & Repair

I was approached by a young man and given a sheet with the Tree Service Name. When Witucki showed up after young man called him he quoted a price and service. Cut down tree to ground level and haul off. I negotiated a lower price. Without telling me, he changed the service to "remove (1) elm tree. Stack all debris curbside. His assistant cut small branches and then came down from tree and took off his climbing boots. I saw Witucki notching the tree about 4' while the kid was piling branches and saw a long one being pushed into the pile. I went to the porch and inquired about the length of the branches. Witucki said they will be 4' long for trash to pick up. At that point I realized he wasn't going to haul off, but I didn't confront him. I didn't feel well (I should have known not to make decisions). I went back into the house and heard a "whomp" he had cut the whole tree. He made a few more cuts and brought the "proposal" to me and expected pay. I paid him by check. He smiled and left. The check cleared that same day.

When I finally went out the larger pieces of the trunk (at least 60 lbs) were scattered wherever he cut them. There were other higher located branched "Y" shaped limbs that were also very heavy that were located under the pile of smaller branches. I called a friend who does small odd jobs for me. He said there was no way he could do anything and that I was "ripped off." I called the number he left. His voice was on the voice mail recording. I called at least five times with no reply. I had to hire another man when he came to my door and said he would haul off. I recognized him as someone who had worked for me before. When he came out the next day with an assistant, it took both of them to get the trunk pieces into the truck. It took four trips to haul off the whole tree because the weight of the trunk pieces flattened the tires. They raked up the debris. I paid them extra because of the extreme work it took to haul off the tree.

What Witucki left was so ridiculous and an "extreme ripoff" of a disabled, ill women. If I had known I could "google" his name and see the former "rip off" report, which I will do in the future, I would have sent him on his way.
