Beware of Predatory Practices by this Company, Va Beach, Chesapeake

Contacted A-1 to snake roof vent of parents home. Thomas the technician shows up over an hour late after three phone calls for directions. Driving a pick up truck with no company logo and wearing no uniform. Only thing identifying him as employee is a receipt book.
Upon arrival, Thomas is shown the roof vent that needs to be snaked. He quotes a 73 year old man $1500 to perform this service. As soon as my father said no, Thomas immediately lowered the price to $760. As my father was telling him that he has to be out of his mind my mother calls Thomas back to make sure he finally found the house (an hour and twenty minutes late) and he quotes her a price of $720. She declined and he charged us an $80 service call fee.
This having not touched a tool, climbed a ladder, seen a drain, and having spent less than five minutes on the job. This same job was performed by a competitor 12 months ago for $125. When I called to complain about the estimate and the service the office was closed.
I was contacted by Samantha from A-1 the next morning and expressed my complaints to her. She informed me that her tech was cutting us a great deal. Their pricing guide that all techs are required to give their first quote from states that this job is a $1600 job. If that price is refused then the individual technician can adjust the price as they see fit. This company subcontracts overcharged work to unreliable, unprofessional technicians. Will not recommend them to anyone for anything. They prey on the elderly and unknowing.
