Kitchen Accessories Unlimited DBA of AOIFE CO LLC Refused to acknowledge cancellation & refused to accept return because of their errors

I ordered a pot rack for my wife for Christmas on December 17th. The company sent me an email a week later stating they could not deliver by Christmas and to call their 800 number if this was a problem.

I called, got voicemail hell, and left a message on the only inbox that was not full (they were "out for the holidays"). I told them to cancel because the rack could not be here in time.

Instead, I received a notification that they shipped the item December 23rd. When I called to confirm the cancellation again, I could not reach a human.

I called again on January 14th, this time convinced they got my message and had cancelled the order.instead, the agent told me the item was actually shipped on January 9th (the latest date installment). I confirmed again that I did not need the item and they needed to respect my wishes to cancel.

The agent told me that she would have to check as to why it had not been shipped after so much time and why the dates were different. My feeling was that she was buying time so that the item could arrive and they could claim "no responsibility."

The day after I talked to the agent, the pot rack arrived on my doorstep. I called Kitchens Unlimited, spoke to the same agent, who, this time, said "Too late, " that the company would be charging a restocking fee and that I was responsible for the shipping as well.

I was furious, but the agent refused to acknowledge my month-long attempts to cancel the order and refused to accept responsibility for their errors. She only gave me a shipping address for the manufacturer and told me I was responsible for the bills.

My guess is that this type of ripoff is common, especially when dealing with returns caused by company/agent error. I'll dispute the charge with my card company, but I won't forget this behaviour.
