Aggressive, Diceptive Sales Tactics That Keep On Coming?!

My wife and I contacted Owens Corning Basement Finishing Systems to give us a free estimate to finish our unfinished basement. Well, the ordeal turned into a 4 hour extravaganza sales pitch. The salesman was very friendly but very, very aggressive. His initial estimate started at $75K, but quickly went down to $65K if we agreed to be a showcase home, but after some more reluctance on our part, a call to his manager lead to an even better price of $55K. And or couse, the offer was only good at that moment. Not wanting to lose the opportunity, my wife and I signed up, but later that night went on "complaint" and read about all the experiences people have had with Owens Corning and specifically, the Lisle, IL. Office.

I felt used and I felt very, very nervous about what our experience would be like if we DID go through with the installation. So, thanks to everyone who contributed their experiences to Rippoff Report, we cancelled the order the very next morning. Sure enough, we got a few calls both from the Lisle office manager (Scott) and our sales guy (Dennis Weber). All the calls went to our voicemail which we didn't want to return because we were fearful that it would only lead to more sales attempts. Finally, two weeks later, the salesman got a hold of my wife and said that he would like to stop by again because he left a spiral notebook at our house. He did not. He only left an Owens Corning magnet stuck to a support beam in our basement. Yet he insists that he'd like to stop by again and search our house.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Part of me thinks that the request to come by our house is innocent enough, but another part of me feels like we should be extremely careful letting anyone from OCBS back in our house.

At any rate, has anyone else had this happen? If so, this would be a new "low" in their sales tactics.
