Phitoma Quest - Kirby
"Looking for Demo/Assembly People"

This is one of the myriad of companies that handle Kirby sales. If you know nothing about how Kirby Folk do business, let me tip you off:

Step 1) They put vague ads in the local newspaper offering "guaranteed wages" and NO sales.

Step 2) They draw people in to fill out applications.

Step 3) They call them back for an interview but NEVER mention Kirby (they are careful to deflect any questions).

Step 4) The call you in for an "orientation" and they FINALLY let you in on the Kirby reality (half to three quarters of the "applicants" leave and never come back).

Step 5) They call inform you later and inform you if you made the "cut" (the reality is that EVERYONE that stayed made the cut).

Step 6) Three days of Kirby indoctrination follow and the new "dealers" are given a Kirby and instructed to do "practice shows" where the dealers are pressured to sell to friends and family over the "countdown weekend".

The bottom line is that few are ever sold over the weekend. The subsequent Monday the dealers are loaded into a van and driven all over the area to "demo" Kirby vacuums. The reality is the the "boss" is pressuring you every step of the way to SELL SELL SELL.

No SALES, eh?

Few make it very far, despite the pressure and the stupid Kirby propaganda they drop on you at every opportunity.

They burn out trying to do the manditory 15 shows per week and end up wasting no less than two weeks of their lives.

The "boss" finds a way to say that you didn't do your demos properly and, hence doesn't pay you and single, thin dime.

Meanwhile the ads keep running in the papers and the hapless people wanting honest work keep getting ground through the Kirby machine.

In all fairness, the Kirby vacuum is the very best around but the Kirby labor machine is a shameless and humiliation ordeal.
