The owner stole money and lied to employee

My husband worked for C & K Painting. This past October the owner offered my husband a partnership after 2 and a half years. My husband jumped at the chance. We had a big meeting at a restraunt and went over details and were told papers were going to be filed and that my husband would get half the profits. They came up with a set $ amount that they would be paid each week. We personally paid for work cell phone and vehicle.

They flourished, expanding and bought a nice work Van with profits, as well as other equipment. My husband asked the owner if his name was on the title of the van or if it were titled in the companies name. This made the owner angry and we found out that the van was listed in only the owners name, and on his personal insurance. My husband questioned the owner about the money becaues the owner kept making comments about the company being broke. My husband worked all the jobs so he had an idea of how much was coming in and this just did not seem to add up.

In April, the owner told my husband that he had never filed papers and that they were not partners. He also told him that he would only pay him an hourly wage from now on and that my husband worked for him. Not having a job my husband just said, ok. Well, I got angry and had him remove the magnets off his truck that have the company name on them, since he isnt an owner and remove the company name off his voice mail. Those things are in my name.

The following week when the owner found out we did this he fired him. He did not pay him anything for the last week and half he worked. He also owed him money for material that my husband had paid out of pocket for jobs. We sent a certified letter demanding the money owed for the materials and hours worked. He refuses to pay my husband. We didn't even ask for half the assets which my husband should be entitled to, we just wanted the money for materials and pay that he was never paid.

Corbett Thompson owner of C & K Painting is a liar and a thief. He lied about partnerships and he stole the money from my husband. I hope he can sleep at night knowing what he did to my husband.
