I feel like a fool! Thanks to consumer complaints, it's not too late for me

Construction & Repair

Yesterdeay I received a call from a man asking if I would be willing to sell my timeshare points. He claimed to have a buyer who is very interested. When I said that I would consider an offer, he said he would call the prospective buyer and call me back.in less than 30 minutes, he called to say the buyer would pay $. 11 per point. I agreed to the amount and he said another person from his company would call to tell me about the closing.

In the meantime, I looked up the company's website and it looked legit. Although, the website gives an address in Massachusetts, he had said that he was located in Orlando, so I checked out the company with the Central Florida Better Business Bureau. There were some outstanding complaints, but also resolved complaints.

When the second person, Kyle, called me back, I agreed to the sale, and stupidly agreed to a charge of $1950 on my credit card to begin the sales process. Kyle also tod me that the verification dept from his company would call me and I should tell them that I was not told that there was a buyer for my points. I follwed his instructions, but afterward realized that they were taping my saying that I realized that I was buying advertising and had not been promised that a buyer exists.

I then spoke to Klye again, and he said the closing documents would arrive in 45 days. Then my husband called to tell me that he had found this (consumer complaints) website. After reading about GTS, I called my credit card company to ask if I would be able to dispute the charges in 45 days. They said that while I have 90 days to dispute any charges, it doesn't sound like I would have too good of a chance at that time since I had told them on record that I was buying advertising. I felt like a complete fool!

Luckily, Florida has a buyer's remorse law, giving you seven days to cancel. I have called - it took several calls to get through to Kyle - and he told me to fax him that I wish to cancel. I am also sending a certified letter to the Brockton, MA address. That way I will have proof that I have cancelled.

Thank you to all who wrote into consumer complaints about GTS! It helped me see them for what they are. I just wish they could be put out of business before they hurt anyone else!
