They lured my elderly disabled sister into a contract, drove her to the bank. And when she tried to get out the next day, they promised to mail her a check knowing that while she waited her 3 day to cancel contract would expire

I am writing this letter on behalf of my sister.

On March 26 she received a call from Gutter Champ to set up an appointment for March 28. Bob Mitchell came to her house to give her a free estimate. He then gave her a price to replace her roof for 10,000 dollars. She told him that the estimate was outrageous. He then ask her what could she afford. She said 4 or 5 thousand. He then called his boss and came back and said my boss agreed to 6765.00. But they needed 1/3 down to seal the deal. She said I only want an estimate at this time. He then told her that if she sign the contract and found a better deal that they would match it or give her money back.

She agreed and told him that she did not have the money on hand. He said, I will take you to the bank to get the money. Keep in mind that my sister is handicap, a senior citizen, blind in one eye and have a difficult time seeing out of the other eye. He then took her to the bank to withdraw the money. She gave him the deposit of 2242.00.

When she called me and told me how much the roof cost and she had gave him 2242.00 I told her that was to high and to call them to get her money back. She called them Saturday March 29 and was told to call back on Monday and ask to speak to Tony Jackson. She said, when she talked to Mr. Jackson she told him she wanted her money back because the price was to high. She asked should I come in to pick the money up or would you mail it to me, he said that he would mail it. He never told her that she had 3 days to cancel the contract.

I cant understand why they was willing to take her to the bank, but not willing to tell her about the 3 day cancellation period. She waited for her check and when she didnt receive it by Thursday she called them Friday morning. When she called Friday and ask it they mailed the check they told her no and that they were not going to mail it. Because she didnt cancel in 3 days she could not get her money back. The only way she could get her money back was to get a cheaper estimate, then call them and they would compare the estimate.

I called Mr. Jackson and told him that my sister had informed me that he would not give her money back, after debating we agreed to meet on April 23. Mr. Jackson told me to bring estimates and we would sit down and work this out. We meet on April 23rd and I had three estimates 1 complete roof job with gutters and 2 roof lay over. My estimates did not meet his satisfaction although they were legitimate companies.

Mr. Jackson said he would call me and give me the name of some companies that are comparable to theirs, I have not received a call and it is now May 6

I think that Gutter Champ lured my sister into a contract. Bob Mitchell talked her into signing a contract knowing she couldnt read the fine print. He then drove her to the bank to seal the deal before she had a chance to talk to anyone. After she was informed that it was to high, Mr. Jackson told her he would mail her a check knowing that if 3 days expired she was obligated to get the job done or lose her money. And now no estimate we present will meet their satisfaction.

I think they took advantage of and elderly women with bad health and is now stressing her out because they wont give her, her money back. 2200 dollars is a lot of money please help.
