Carpet Mills Of America
Poor customer service, ran unauthorized charge on my debit card for an unfinished job

Construction & Repair

We needed to replace carpet and flooring in our home. We selected Carpet Mills of America in Gilbert, Arizona. We bought carpet, tile and wood flooring. We paid $3095.71, half the total amount, up front and the remaining balances for each installation was scheduled to be paid by check and given to the installer when the work was completed. We paid the hard wood and tile installers the remaining balance due on the wood and tile. The carpet still has not been finished. Carpet Mills of America ran an unauthorized charge of $677.70 on my debit card for work left unfinished.

We bought carpet, tile and wood flooring. During the wood flooring and tile install the installers left in the middle of the job claiming they had another job to get to or that they didn't have enough material. Our floors sat bare for a week. The installers would show up late and sometimes not at all.
When we called the distribution warehouse we never got a straight story from them. They even lied about who they were. We asked to speak to a supervisor. Mike Cardis called us and told us that is not the way they do business and that he would take care of it and call us back. He never did.

After the tile was installed, I asked them if they reconnected the washing machine and dryer in the laundry room. They said that they did and they left. Later that evening when I went to do laundry, the laundry room flooded because they did not hook it up properly!

Again we called the company and got no where. We wrote letters to the head of the company Wally Mullah, and he responded, "We hope to win your business back". He didn't offer any information about how he planned to do that.

When the carpet was installed, it was not installed properly. There were large gaps between the carpet and the tile, the installers cracked the new tile that had just been installed, the carpet was not cut straight and it wasn't tacked down in our closet properly.

We were unsatisfied with the carpet installation and told the installers that we would not pay them. We called Tony and told him this and requested that a supervisor come and inspect the work that was done and fix the broken tiles and the carpet before we paid the remaining balance on the carpet.

Tony told us that a supervisor would come to our home. On the scheduled day for this vist, no one ever came.
I called Tony back to tell him this and he responded that he would reschedule the visit and call us back with a date. We never heard from him again.

After being treated with such disrespect, we got tired of calling them back and decided to wait until they called us back with an appointment for a supervisory visit. This never happened. Carpet Mills of America decided instead to run my debit card without authorizing or evening telling us they were going to do this. They never planned on finishing the job.

When I saw this charge on my account, I called our bank. Since the charge was still pending, they told me to call Carpet Mills of America and have them run a credit back into our account and that if they did it that day it would show back in our account that day. They also said they would file a fraudulent claims charge against them if the charge went through.
I called Tony and told him that they had no right to charge my card and explained what the bank had told me. Tony said that he would have his financial department credit it back that day but that it might take a few days to show back in our account. He also said that Mike Cardis would come on Wednesday along with someone who would fix the carpet.

The next day the charge was still pending. I talked with Tony and he said that they would fax something to the bank saying that they were crediting the account. The fax never came. They never credited our account either, even though they said they would. A fraudulent claims charge is now under way.

Wednesday we called to confirm Mike Cardis's visit. We were told by Levi that someone would be out to retack the carpet but a supervisor wasn't coming. Mike Cardis knew nothing about the visit that they set up with us. We told them to not send anyone unless a supervisor was coming to inspect the work first. Our carpet sits unfinished and Carpet Mills of America stole money from our account.
