Buyer Beware! You can't cancel this service!

Do NOT sign a contract with this company! Your sales person will tell you that the contract is only for two years and will not point out the fine print. Your contact can only be canceled in writing and "renews" for 1 year increments.in other words, if you try to cancel 1 month after the the renewal, you will be billed for the remaining 11 months!

In addition, they will only cancel your contract if they get written instructions to cancel and will claim they did not get your letter, so you have to send it certified mail.

I sold my Mesa after four years of never missing a payment with this company and tried to cancel my service agreement. I was told that even though my contract was for two years of service, I had to cancel in writing and that it would not go into effect until the coming July because I had renewed for a full year automatically the past July. This was in January. I faxed the required letter and was told they would stop billing me in July. They lied.

Protect America claims that in July my service renewed for another year because I didn't cancel in writing. Funny that they didn't contact me to report that my alarm was not working during the previous 6 months that it was not connected to their service! According to them, it is the consumer's responsibility to test their service monthly, and if the alarm is disconnected, they are not required to contact the home owner. I guess burglers everywhere are sleeping easier knowing that if the service is disconnected, Protect America is not supposed to worry or contact the home owner!

Now a year later they again claim they did not get the letter and have renewed my contract for another year! What ever you do - DO NOT sign a contract with this company. Their only interest is drafting your checking account and their contract screws you six ways from Sunday! I feel like I made a deal with a Mafia loan shark and can't ever get out of it! Don't make the same mistake!
