Paid $2600.00 for maybe $200.00 supplies and work. Never returned. Never returned calls, Blocked incoming calls

"Dan" came to my house and discussed what it was he could do for me to landscape the back yard. We specifically discussed the water problem and errosion issues. He stated to "make it perfect it will cost $2500.00. I told him that I wasn't planning on spending that much, but I could do it if the job was going to be like he described to me. He told me that it would take a few days and should be done by the end of the week. I paid him $1200.00 to get started at his request. The next day a load of dirt arrived and I wrote a check to the driver as instructed to do so by Dan and was told that the amount would be subtracted from the total. Dan and his crew arrived a few days later and spread the dirt and brought a few concrete squares with them. The next day the group worked on spreading the dirt around and laying out some timbers. Dan asked for $400.00 more for supplies which I wrote him a check for... Made out to Mike and Honey". The men did very little more that day.

When they arrived the next day I told Dan that I had to work the next couple of days (12hr shifts) and that I would probably not see him. Dan told me that he would be finished by then and could I write him a check for the rest of the money due. He had been so forth-coming and hard-working I saw no problem in paying him the rest of the money. H did not return for some time and when I spoke to him he told me he was finishing up another job and would be back a day or two. I never saw or heard from again and when I tried to contact him his number was blocked. I tried numerous more times, but never got ahold of him. The yellow pages did not list his address and I had no other way of contacting him...
