Warning from a former Salesman at Jim Walter Homes

As a former salesman for the company (JWH) let me first start off with a warning. You will be told whatever it takes to get you to sign any and all papers. That includes sales contracts as well as completion paperwork.
You WILL be told that certian items are included when in fact they are extras that you will be charges for. If you have good enough credit, and qualify for their financing, your sales sheet will be loaded up with anything that can be added in order to make the companies 37% profit.

Your home WILL be built by sub-contractors. Jim Walters has NO building staff. The subs that I have seen, as well as had first hand experence with on my Jim Walter home, are the lowest of the low, booth in pay, and quility. JWH has such a low pay scale that the only builders who will work for them are, of the desperate type. Anyone who can nail two boards together will be hired. I had three different framing crews on my home before it finally got put in the dry. (one guy was in jail). I am dealing with warped and bowed wood issues now that I have moved in. Our home got rained and snowed in for weeks on end with no attampt to cover anything.

You will be told that your home is of tridational construction, when in fact the company is now using pre-fab wall panels, which come to the site by truck. We had many problems with our sales due to shoddy pre-fab construction, low grade materials, as well as the framing crews inability to assemble the panels.
The plumbing and electrical systems of our home have been plaged with leaks, and undersized wiring.

In fairness, I must say that the office manager of my old office will do all that he can in order to help in any given situation, but his hands are tied. I have seen him get blown off many times, and try as he may (and will) the upper powers that be, are only interested in the number of sales, and nothing else.
Also the construction manager from the Jonesboro Arkansas office is a great guy as well, but again, he is only one guy in a sea of sharks.

I can go on and on, but I will close with this: If they do this to the folks who work for them, just think of what is in store for you!!
