Construction & Repair

To make a long story short. My husband & I were looking to purchase our first home. The Real Estate agent kept talking to us about rental property. She had a house that was for sale but had not been put on the market yet, she was going on & on about how this was such a good buy & she was going to buy it if we didn't & she told us that she had a son close to our age & how she wouldn't let us buy the wrong house & so on. We really trusted her, boy were we stupid!

At the closing the historical society didn't even show up. We thought that was strange because they mailed there paperwork in. Now we know why they didn't show up because we were getting screwed. We didn't know anything about buying a home, it was our first purchase.

It could have been simple if our Real Estate agent would have been honest & explained to us how expensive it would be to restore an old home & she new we did not have that type of money.

We had no idea what a mess we were getting into now our whole life has been ruined. If you could only imagine the stress that this has put on a recently married couple. Shouldn't Real Estate agents know the laws, & go by them when selling houses? If she didn't know either then maybe her license should be revoked.

We ended up buying 2 houses on one piece of property, we were told that it was historical & that it we would be a part of the historical society, she said this was no big deal. She gave us estimates on vinyl siding & other things that later we found out we were not aloud to do to this house because the historical society have an easement on our house. We were only 22 years old at the time, had no idea what that meant. She made it seem like that meant nothing. Just that the house was really old.

Well now we are stuck with 2 houses that are falling apart & we can't make any repairs because we do not have the money to reconstruct the house the way the historical society want it restored.

We were even in the local news paper. And it clearly stated what we had planned to do is fix the houses up so we could rent them out, we have 2 houses & three units, rotting to the ground. We weren't buying the property because it was historic.

All we want is for Century 21 to buy back the houses for what we paid for them. If they are such a good buy then they will surely have no problem selling them for the same price that we paid for them.
