"Toby " Devore And Lisa Gravala ripoff, unlicensed contractor, scam artists, beware of tempe

Billy Dale "Toby" Devore and his girlfriend and business partner, Lisa Gravala, stole away to Paris in November using the money I'd paid them to install 2500 sq ft of laminate flooring.

The job is so amateurish, it has only been 6 months and I have to tear it out. He said he was licensed and showed examples of his work. I wonder if it truly was HIS work. My decorator (who is now known to be as crooked as Devore and Gravala) stated he was licensed and did beautiful work. They are all crazy!

Toby was very hot headed when I told him the floor installation had voided my 25 year warranty, and said"who are you to say what's right? You have no expertise." When I told him that the manufacturer, BHK flooring, made this assessment, he told me, "You're not getting a penny" and hung up on me.

His business partner, Lisa Gravala, refused to survey the job on the basis that it could "make problems for their relationship." (She and Toby)

This same contractor installed granite tiles in my kitchen. This was done after the floor and while we were away.initially, the granite looked good, but up close you could see and more importantly FEEL where the shortcuts were. Not a level square, smooth cut, or symmetrical face is to be found anywhere in the install.

This too must be demolished and I must pay TWICE now for flooring and countertops. All this on a nurse's salary.
He has insisted that he be allowed to "correct" his work. There is no way to "correct" the floor without redoing it. There is no way to "correct" the tile without redoing it. If I let him do this to me TWICE, then I'M CRAZY! Don't worry, the next time that I see them will be in court.

... After thorough investigation of your complaint, we are issuing a citation against the contractor for contracting without a license. The citation orders that the contractor pay a civil penalty to CSLB for the violation. The citation also orders the contractor to cease unlicensed contracting activity.

If the contractor appeals the citation, it will be scheduled for hearing before an administrative law judge.

If the contractor does not appeal the citation but does not comply with it, the matter will be turned over to either a collection agency for collection of the fine or the District Attorney for prosecution for non-compliance with the citation.
