Ripoff Not honoring warranty

On July 16, we had a poster bedroom set delivered for my daughter. There were no problems with anything up until the end of June of still within our one-year "limited" warranty. My daughter's friend leaned, with her HAND on the end of the bed. I don't even know the correct word for it, but it was a decorative (?) post of sorts that attached to the foot posts. This decorative post broke, which I may add, was not a thin, cheap (ha) looking piece of wood!

On July 14, the service person from RTG came out and gave the usual "we'll call within 2 days with a decision" because there was no way it could be fixed (which we already knew!). I actually did get a return call and was told it would not be covered! I politely argued the issue because I have worked customer service and know there are dishonest people who will purposely destroy things to get something else. The Customer Service woman became very curt with me and said this had nothing to do with workmanship and RTG would not take care of it. I was upset by that time, as we spent $1,200 on this furniture-money most all of us work hard for! Am I just being ridiculous?

We also purchased a livingroom set from RTG about 3 years beforehand and had nothing but headaches with that! They did take care of those issues (delivery of damaged goods, then the WRONG furniture delivered, then tears in sofa). My husband swore we'd never shop there again, but I thought maybe things got better since our bad experience. Guess I was wrong.
