Alpha Core Construction, George Metry Ripoff Took Money for Remodel Virtually No Work Done Won't Pay for Supplies or Labo

Contracted with Alpha Core Construction 11/7 for a master bathroom remodel. Total payments made: $5,700. Only significant work performed was demolition, concluded on 12/27. Contract stated that work was to be completed 12/4/03.

George Metry won't provide workers with money for supplies, much less labor. Continues to tell us that he's "sending a crew" on such and such date.By 2/7/05, he'd made nine (9) such unfulfilled promises.

The demolition crew quit working for him because they were grossly underpaid wages at the end of December, not to mention wouldn't provide more money to purchase supplies. Prior to quitting, they attempted to start the plumbing. There's a leak in our bathroom that requires us to regularly empty a container we placed there upon noticing the leak. These same people, without request or permission, affixed the hall bath's mirror with Liquid Nails in a position which now shows the edges of the wallpaper.

Another crew that did come out attempted to do some electrical work. They left the same day after George Metry's or Alpha Core Construction's check was declined at Home Depot when they attempted to purchase supplies. Until then, they managed to disable the dishwasher and garbage disposal in the kitchen.

George continues to tell us he's sending out a crew to remedy the situation and that once they start, they will continue the job for 2 weeks until it's completed.

BEWARE this man, George Metry, who preys on homeowners. There are another 6-7 homeowners in the same boat with us when it comes to Alpha Core Construction, Inc, Alpha Core Construction & Remodeling, and George Metry.

Despite my filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Chicago, he has a reliability rating of "satisfactory." He hasn't responded to the BBB, although he purportedly is a "member."
