JRK Properties Blackballed me with potential landlords, Kept Security Deposit, and Bogus Charges

I would like to start by stating that I lived at this property for almost two years with no complaints from the managment company regarding my tenancy. After about a fourteen months of living here, I discovered a pest problem (Roaches). I made several attempts to contact the property and request my unit to be exterminated. The management agreed to that and sent pest control out. As the time went by, the roached never went away completely. I complained and complained about the pest problem. Eventually they put my unit on a bi-montly extermination list. At this point living on second floor between multiple other units, I requested they exterminate all the units surrounding mines. I was informed that they can only do this if the other tenants agreed. Well after some investigation, it came that the Tuscany is infested with roaches.

Due to my health, with documentation submitted to the property, I was released from my lease. I'd given a 60 day notice to vacate the property. After my 60 days was up, I requested my lease be extended for 30 more days. They agreed. On August 29 I was informed by e-mail, that my unit had been rented and I must be out by the 31 on a Friday. I vacated the unit on the 31st of August. On that Saturday, I recieved a voicemail from Liz F. Asking when had I planned on turning in the keys? I attempted to contact her immediately and the office had closed early on that Saturday. The next day Sunday, the office was closed. Monday was Labor Day, office closed! Tuesday, I turned in the keys and informed them the unit had been cleaned and where to mail my security deposit. At this time, I was told they were keeping my security deposit for rent from Sept. 1-4th. They also charged me for not turning in the keys because they didn't recieve them on the 31st even though they hadn't changed the locks. When I discussed this with Jessica, she stated "Well we can charge you because we didn't get them on 31st so we are going to". Not to mention that they bad mouthed me to potetial landlords with false accusations. I contacted a local housing agency to see what my rights were and unfortunately in TX, you don't have many. One thing stood out though. They mentioned that Tuscany At Lakepointe has very long history of coming up with poor excuses to keep renter's security deposits.

At this point they have turned over these bogus fees to a collection agency because I refuse to pay these nonsense charges. Prior to living in this roach motel, I had a perfect rental history. When their collection agecny called me and I explained the situation to them, they agreed and stated that they know how this place works however, they are getting paid to collect money for Tuscany so there wasn't much she could do. I've made several attemtps to contact the corporate office in California but refuse to return any of my phone calls.

I won't tell you not move there, but please dot all of your I's and cross all of your T's! They are in the business of blackballing and robbing tenants.
