Magic Jack Plus is bogus

Ordered Magic Jack on 1/1 and received it on 1/6. We wanted to try Magic Jack Plus because you can port your number according to the ad. Once received I followed the instructions that state to "plug it into a USB port and click here to register. All registration was easy up to porting the number. I received continuous errors telling me the number was not available and to try again later. Later? I logged onto their chat line which a previous complainant stated they had a poor mastery of the English language and I too found that to be true. I was told to check and see if the number was blocked so I contacted TWC and was told it was not. I then tried a "vanity number" and none of my choices were available. Finally I selected a number from a list their site provided only to find they had a block of numbers in an exchange more than an hour away. So much for vanity numbers. I again logged onto the chat line and asked why I could not port my number nor receive the requested series of numbers I requested from their vanity screen. They could not answer my question beyond telling me to wait for an e-mail letting me know the service was available. Maybe they should provide a selection from their website allowing you to check and see if your number CAN be ported. Nonetheless, frustrated, I finally asked for an RMA which In promptly received. Another key issue not explained in their ad was the additional charges. $19.99 to port my number and $9.99 every year thereafter. Also they wanted $3 for the vanity but that was acceptable. There "AL-a-carte" pricing is something they need to work on. I genuinely would have liked to try there service as I get ready to retire from the working world and want to trim my expenses. Maybe in the future...
