Hewlett Packard
DC Jack Glued to Laptop Case, Repair Impossible

Computers & Services

I purchased an HP laptop from Best Buy in July. I started having problems charging the battery in September which gradually grew worse. In April I finally took the laptop in to have the DC jack replaced. I was told that the original DC jack had been glued to the laptop case and couldn't be removed without destroying the case. After spending an hour on the phone with HP technical support, I am of the opinion that HP doesn't care about a product out of warranty - they only want to sell HP products or extended warranties, which would not have corrected the problem.
