My son recently saved his money to purchase the New XBox-S Console as he has two regular XBox 360 consoles both with the RROD. For the cost to repair them, we figured we would just purchase this new version without the hardware problems the first generation xbox continues to experience.

Four weeks ago he went to a local Game Stop store where they offered to take his two "broken" xbox consoles and give him $ credit towards the new system. Fro the last four weeks, day after day he has been promised that a shipment of the new consoles are coming in to the store - they either never arrive or arrive sporadically.

Game Stop claims to be as frustrated as their waiting list customers at Microsoft 's lack of shipping details and their ability to provide customers with the product through their store. However, it's worth pointing out that if you go to Microsoft Marketplace website, you can buy one and have it shipped - 3 days. I'm curious as to why Microsoft isn't supplying it's retail stores with adequate quantities. Could it be that this particular chain (Game Stop) repairs the broken systems and resells - maybe Microsoft selfishly wants the "new" units purchased? Maybe it was a plan all along by Microsoft once again to take advantage of consumers.

This is a kid who saved his own money to purchase a new unit because his old units have been defective since day one. The business and consumer practices of Microsoft should have put them out of business a long time ago, but they've seemingly become too large to care.

I had hoped Microsoft would do better with this new Generation, but it doesn't seem to be the case at least from a consumer standpoint. I can not speak to hardware at this point as we can't seem to get our unit to test it.
