Aloha Pos
Sorellis Restaurant useless pos system

Computers & Services

We spent $24,0000 on an Aloha pos system for my restaurant in late 2007. It was installed by Cardinal Business Systems with a firewall that was configured incorrectly which rendered it useless, we also had same password as other restaurants nationwide that bought the same system. As a result our system was comprimised (over 300 customer credit cards) were stolen. This system was known to be very vulnerable when we were under warrenty and no patches or alerts were sent out to us even though the same thing was happening down south with several other restaurants. They sent a notice to us months after comprimise already happened and simply asked that we continue the $2500.00 yearly support program they offered to avoid issues in future. Not only did we plunge $40.000 in debt due to fines and penalties imposed on us, we were labeled thieves in the small town we do business in. Why would I give them another dime when they couldn't even take care of us when we were under warrenty. Right now we are searching for other restaurants who were affected by the same companies so we can take them to court. Now I have a very expensive paper weight on my counter that is constantly breaking down. All the bells and whistles that we bought with this system are now disconnected and usless just like the whole damn system!!! Thanks for nothing Radiant (now NCR) and Cardinal Business Systems!
