Over-Charging, Unsafe Work Environment, Stolen Items

Southern Motors has been practicing unethical and unsafe business for quite some time, but no one was willing to come forward because of the Kaminski family influence in the city of Savannah and surrounding areas - it's time for someone to point out what they are really doing.

Southern Motors routinely charges more hours per work item than what is listed in their industry standard. This means that if your repair item is listed as a 4-hour job, they would write up and charge you for 6 or 7 hours of work. Of course there is no way for the consumer to find out unless we know what the standard is - this is how they're getting away with it.

Southern Motors also continues to employ personnel who are visiblly intoxicated. One employee was quite obviously "plastered", slurring words, smelling of alcohol during business hours. This has been a known problem for quite some time, but has not done anything to correct it.

Southern Motors had several "close call" accidents in their shop which could have easily resulted in serious injury or death. I heard on one occasion a vehicle fell off of a work stand, nearly crushing a mechanic. They have had quite a number of vehicles damaged during maintenance, some very serious. No one wears eye or ear protection, very small number of technicians wear safe working shoes - many only wear tennis shoes or other street shoes in work area.

Several cars have been reported stolen straight from their shop and/or lot. Some apparently during business hours. Many customers have complained that their personal items have gone missing after service, but Southern Motors hides behind a sign "Not Responsible for Stolen or Missing Items". Some of the items gone missing are worth a lot of money, and most have gone missing quite obviously during maintenance.

They have a number of "repeat" customers; meaning many problems are not fixed at the first time. Sometimes the very item that brought the vehicle in does not get done, reportedly including some safety recall items - but they say they've done it. Some "mistakes" made by them could have easily caused serious injury or accidents to the consumer. And some work is simply done poorly, resulting in repeat visit.

Many, many consumers and others in Savannah are aware of these, some have experienced these themselves but afraid to come forward because it is owned by the Kaminskis. People knew this for quite some time but felt powerless against the owners. It's time to bring these facts to light, let the consumers know what is really happening to their vehicles, and hopefully someone in authority to step in to stand up for consumers' rights.
