Crown Port Service
Failure to Pay Medical Expenses for Asthma also failure to pay any compensation

Cars & Transport

Crown Port Service a major car importer in the Baltimore area leased the Fairfield car import facilty from the State of Maryland in November 1988. Subsquently I became sick with asthma within 3 months of entering this new import car facilty in 1989.

I had been working for the company previously at another known location "Dundalk Maryland" for 5 years installing A/C equippment in new imported cars.

The shop switched from using an A/C charging crew at a assigned isolated location within the shop. To individuals charging their own installed A/C equippment on new cars for reasons unknown to me.

The shop was smaller, representing a health hazard to mechanics passing behind a car's exhaust as nearly 20 cars were charged side by side. This was a departure from an isolated location and charge team at Dundalk MD.

I told my boss of my phosgene gas poisoning, and was fired on the spot. The next day I met with a Local 27 Food union representative and managers from the shop. I was being suspended for 6 months without pay for quality control write-ups.

Three days after the poisoning I came down with pneumonia, and had to be treated with theodore. The following day I had acute severe asthma, lacked energy, and lost all my stamina.

Over the next 4 months I tried working and resuming my running activities again. I had been running 10k and 15k races during my employment. I found I could no longer run for distance nor speed as my breathing was not only labored but restricted by asthma.

I gave up working with the hope of recovery, it hasn't happened yet.By the time I had caught on to the phosgene gas poisoning which I hadn't known about until the day I got fired I had been poisoned many times over.

I'm using advair and other medications for illnesses that asthma has created, including high blood pressure and cholesterol medications, etc... And have never received one red cent from Crown Port Service for these medications. I've never received any form of compensation from Crown Port Services for the unavoidable asthma that my work represented and caused.

There were never any warnings, no advice, and no contact from the company concerning my asthma or the presence of shop asthma at any time.

I was told that the contract was bought out by Toyota USA at the time of my tailpipe poisoning. My pay check still had Crown Port Service printed on it, but who was making the rules and in control was lost on me. It was very confusing to say the least as work rules were changing by the minute at the time of my departure.

Needless to say I'd like them to pay for the needed medications from illnesses they've caused me.
