Enterprise Rent A Car
Enterprise Wants Me To Pay For Damage I Did Not Do

Cars & Transport

My husband rented from an Enterprise attached to the auto body shop where our vehicle was being repaired. We made the decision to use this service based on our insurance company's service repair program. The vehicle is a Chevy Suburban. My husband did a walk around with the agent. He noticed some damage on the front bumper, but instead of documenting, he pointed it out to the agent and accepted her nod as confirmation of the damage.

Upon returning the vehicle, the agent points out damage to the front passenger side bumper. It seems like she knew where to look for the damage because she went straight toward the front of the vehicle. She asked me if I noticed the damage and if I was in an accident. I told her that I did not notice any damage and that I would have known if I was involved in an accident in the 20 minute drive over here. I told her that my husband did a visual inspection of the vehicle the night before and there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. She then asked if I remember "pulling" something, like a parking block or something heavy. She even suggested that maybe my husband hit the curb while parking.

Upon inspected the vehicle myself, I noticed that the damage was on the underside of the vehicle along the side. There were no scratches, dents, or dings on the front or side of the vehicle. The skid plate was intact. I told her that I was not responsible for any damage. She then went on to write up a report and asked me for my credit card. I told her that I could not take any responsibility for the damage as I was not certain that the damage wasn't there when the vehicle was picked up.

I received a letter stating that I should contact my insurance company right away to file a claim. After contacted the insurance company, I was told that I would most likely be responsible for paying the deductible. I believe that they are trying to get over on us and I won't stand for it. You can be rest assure that I will never rent another vehicle with this company.
